VBL Grand Final 2024/25 - Swiss

​The VBL Grand Final by WOW for the 2024/25 season represents the pinnacle of Germany's Virtual Bundesliga, bringing together the nation's top EA SPORTS FC Pro talents. Organized by the DFL, the competition gathers top players from both the VBL Club Championship and the VBL Open. This event determines the German individual winner. The Grand Final starts on 5 April and ends in 27 April.

Competition structure

The VBL Grand Final consists of an online group phase followed by a knockout stage. A total of 32 players qualify for the Grand Final: 16 from the VBL Club Championship via the Club Playoffs, and 16 from the VBL Open Playoffs.

  • Online Group Phase: Players are divided into two groups of 16 and compete in a Swiss-system format. In this system, players face opponents with a similar win-loss record in each round. A maximum of four matchdays are played, with each match consisting of a two-legged tie.
    • Players who achieve three wins advance directly to the Round of 16.
    • Players with a 2:2 win-loss record at the end of the group stage compete in an additional qualification round for the remaining spots in the knockout stage.
  • Knockout Stage: Once the 16 finalists are determined, the competition continues in a single-elimination format. Each round consists of two legs (home and away), with the winner decided by the aggregate score. If needed, matches go to extra time and penalties.
