• First day at the FIFAe Club World Cup 2022 provides goals and celebrations

• EXCEL and Fnatic look impressive through first rounds of the Group stage

Day one of the FIFAe Club World Cup 2022™ presented by EA SPORTS™ has come to a close here at the Bella Arena in Copenhagen, Denmark and through the first moments of the Group stage, we have received a good first impression about which club is the most confident competing at the top level.

The competition day kicked off at 11am with the Group A & C matchups. The butterflies in the players’ stomachs transitioned into the atmosphere in the arena, but all players were quickly settled by goals and celebratory yells from everywhere, especially the Reply Totem Esports and ANKAAEsports duos in the room as goal after goal went in.

It is currently Riders who have looked the most impressive through the first rounds - having a goal difference of +6 - the most of the tournament so far. They are joined at the top of their respective groups by EXCEL, Fnatic and Reply Totem Esports, though everything could change in the second half of the Group stage match-ups tomorrow on Day 2.

Through the morning session, it was impressive work from the teams who climbed through the pre-qualification stage from the very beginning - Reply Totem Esports and ANKAAEsports, as they both sit at the top of Group C. Excel and Team Heretics - the Team of the Season cup winners - sit both even at the top of Group A with 9 points a piece, having both not lost a single game.

The afternoon session was dominated by a surprise contender, as the first-time Malaysian qualifiers GBX Esports Team started the day undefeated through three matchups - looking impressive in each tie. The form would drop off towards the ending rounds and allow the duo of Tekkz and Diogo at Fnatic to pass them for first place to end the day. Former FIFAe Club World Champions Complexity Gaming have struggled so far on Day 1, not getting into a rhythm early and ending the day at the bottom of the group.
