The eMLS Cup 2024 concludes with the victory of JAFonso

The eMLS Cup 2024 showcased the talent and abilities of football esports players from the 22 teams participating in the current Major League Soccer season. The event marked the culmination of the eMLS 2024, taking place in Austin, Texas, and attracting well-known players from around the globe.

eMLS 2024 in a nutshell

The tournament was divided into three main events: the League Series 1 (16-18 February), the League Series 2 (1-3 March) and the eMLS Cup (8-11 March), the latter being the pinnacle event of the competition.

Each of these events consisted on qualifiers, group stages and playoffs. The winner of the League Series 1 was the Brazilian Paulo Neto representing Atlanta United; and the winner of the League Series 2 was the Portuguese JAfonso, representing New England Revolution. JAfonso would also take ultimate prize in the third and last event: the eMLS Cup.

Standout players and teams from MLS clubs like Toronto FC, D.C. United, and St. Louis CITY SC participated, bringing top-tier action and top-tier entertainment.

The eMLS Cup 2024 Playoffs featured intense matches, leading up to the semifinals and the grand final held during the SXSW in Texas streamed live to global audiences.

In addition to Paulo Neto, the previous eMLS Cup champion, and JAfonso, some of the other stars who participated in the event were:

  • K1john, known as the only free agent in the FIFAe World Cup 2023 reaching a very high level as a new player, also represented Inter Miami FC qualifying for the Playoffs at every event of the eMLS Cup and earning the second place in the competition.

  • Ollelito, who represented New York City FC and has been known for his success at his previous club, TG.NIP.

  • NRaseck, who formerly played for Guild Esports, tied for third place in the eMLS Cup alongside Ollelito representing St. Louis City.

  • Diogo, who is also renown for his trajectory in Europe and as a former member of the successful team, FNATIC, represented Austin FC and secured a spot within the top 8 of the competition.

  • Paulo Neto, AlanAvi, Lamps, ThiagoCapo, GN10, doolsta and KingCJ0 also got to claim a prize for their respective place in the competition.

About the competition

The eMLS is the esports and gaming property of Major League Soccer, held annually with representatives from MLS teams. From 19 clubs in 2018, the competition has grown to 22 clubs this season, making it more competitive and exciting than ever.
