• First time qualifiers to the FIFAe Club World Cup advance in the last minute to the Round of 16

The second day of the FIFAe Club World Cup 2023 took place on 07 July, and once again, it was filled with emotions, intense showdowns and many surprises on the virtual pitch. Some clubs that had not previously qualified for the FIFAe Club World Cup advanced to the Round of 16, while a few expected fan-favorites bid farewell to the championship. We also witnessed clubs rising from the bottom of the table and managing to secure a spot within the top four of their groups, while others maintained their positions on the scoreboard.

On the second day, the group stage followed a similar configuration as on the first day, but with much more at stake for each teamOnly the top four teams from each group would advance to the next stage. Among the notable players representing their teams in the next stage are Umut, PHzin, Mark11, Omeed, and AboFawzi.

Highlights of the competition

• Round 10 was incredibly nerve-wracking, as Hollywood, JDT|GBX Esports, Team Exeed, and Essentials Gaming North America fought for qualification until the last moment, resulting in Essentials Gaming North America and JDT|GBX Esports being eliminated from the competition.

• Ultimately Hollywood, a first timer qualified for the FIFAe Club World Cup 2023, claimed the spot for the Round-of-16 in a dramatic fashion, after scoring 2-0 against FNATIC in the last minute, which resulted in FNATIC’s elimination.

• RBLZ Gaming - RB Leipzig emerged victorious with a 3-1 win over the current FIFAe Club World Cup Champions in an intense game.

• Apogee Poland was the only team that remained undefeated for nine out of ten rounds.

• Manchester City and SPQR Academy were unfortunately eliminated after the completion of round 9 in the group stage.

• SPQR Academy, who were in the last spot for most of the second half of the group stage, eliminated Riders x Atlético de Madrid.

• RBLZ Gaming - RB Leipzig maintained their lead in Group C throughout the entire second day of the group stage.

• Atlantide Wave, RBLZ Gaming -RB Leipzig and Apogee Poland have each lost only one game so far in the entire group stage.

• DUX America qualified thanks to the elimination of Riders x Atlético de Madrid.

• AFC Ajax Brazil had the strongest defense throughout the entire group stage, while Brøndby Esport emerged as the top scorer.

About the competition

The second day of the FIFAe Club World Cup 2023 sets the stage for the Round-of-16, marking the midpoint of the competition. The top four teams from each group will continue their battle for the championship in the Round of 16. From the Round of 16, the best 8 will move forward to the quarter finals, which take place the same day – 08 July.
