The Round of 16 and the quarter finals of the FIFAe Nations Cup 2023™ presented by Gamers8 took place on 13 July, which marked the third day of the competition where nations from all over the world competed for the trophy and the prestigious title of FIFAe Nations Champion. The day kept players and viewers on the edge of their seats due to the quality of the matches on stage. Tight matches, last-minute comebacks, and incredible ties best describe Day 3 of the FIFAe Nations Cup.

The day began with a few goals in the first matches of the Round of 16, followed by exciting penalty shootouts that determined unexpected results and evoked intense emotions on the stage. Surprising substitutions, such as the ones of Nicolas99fc and Yilmaz, caught viewers and presenters off guard. However, some of these changes yielded positive results, showcasing the excellent teamwork of all nations.

Highlights and qualified nations

  • The Round of 16 kicked off with Argentina, Saudi Arabia, and Türkiye scoring only a few goals, resulting in no clear advantage.

  • The first part of the Round of 16 featured incredibly tight games, especially those between Türkiye and Saudi Arabia, Brazil and Denmark, Netherlands and Australia, and Argentina and Singapore.

  • Argentina, Brazil, and Saudi Arabia were the first nations to qualify for the quarter finals, despite the low goal count.

  • Australia and the Netherlands had a closely contested match that ended in a penalty shootout, with the Dutch saving all three goals attempted by Australia, securing victory.

  • The Netherlands made a substitution in the second leg of their qualifying match against Australia, with ManuBachoore replacing Yilmaz just before entering extra time. In that same light, Nicolas99fc did not play the first part of the match against France.

  • Denmark, the home country of one of the current FIFAe Club World Champions – Vejrgang – was eliminated by Argentina in the Round of 16. Likewise, Umut also bid farewell to the FIFAe Nations Cup trophy in a tight match against Finland.

  • Israel, considered one of the strongest teams in the competition and undefeated for most of the group stage, lost 3-1 to Italy's impressive performance.

  • Morocco's qualification was decided in a penalty shootout against Peru, but they ultimately got eliminated by The Netherlands in a match filled with goals.

  • Italy defeated Saudi Arabia in a closely contested match, leaving the local favorites out of the competition.

  • Argentina faced France in an outstanding two-legged match but eventually lost 5-3 to the French team.

  • Brazil, France, the Netherlands, and Italy are the qualified nations advancing to the semi-finals on July 14.
