Day 2 of the Group Stage concluded with 16 nations qualified for the Round of 16
India and Peru disputed the spot in the Round of 16 at the last minute, ultimately giving Peru the pass to the knockout stage.
Fan-favorite nations like Portugal and Spain left the competition
On 12 July, the FIFAe Nations Cup 2023™ presented by Gamers8 continued with the second day of group stage matches. By the end of the day, only 16 nations managed to secure a spot in the top four positions of each group, earning a place in the Round of 16 knockout stage. Once again, players gave their all. While some teams redeemed themselves from an uncomfortable position on the previous day, others faced defeats on the scoreboard.
With much more at stake, the competition evoked stronger emotions and delivered surprises on stage. A few unexpected nations qualified for the Round of 16, while former champions bid farewell to the competition in a dramatic fashion. This was the case for Portugal and Spain, the home nations of Tuga810 and AndoniiPM, who displayed their frustration throughout the competition, despite of improving their gameplay on the second day.
If you missed the action, here's a summary of Day 2 of the FIFAe Nations Cup 2023:
Italy scored the first goal of the second day.
Morocco had a clumsy start to the day, unlike in Day 1, losing the first game 3-1 against Malaysia, who were at the bottom of the table by Day 1. However, they redeemed themselves in the final game, winning 5-1 against France.
In the first game between USA and Italy, Italy took an initial lead of 3-0, but USA managed to equalize in the last minute of an intense match.
France remained undefeated until Round 8.
Despite USA's recovery on the second day of the group stage, it wasn't enough for them to continue in the competition.
Argentina scored the most points the whole group stage, leading with 23 points, followed by Israel with 22 points in Group D
South Africa was the first team to dethrone Sweden from the unbeaten position.
By the start of Round 9, Israel remained undefeated, becoming the only nation to continue the streak for that long.
Spain and Portugal, the home countries of the former FIFAe Club World Champions, were eliminated in the group stage after a rocky performance.
Portugal and South Africa were eliminated before Round 10 started, earning Türkiye a spot in the Round of 16
Peru and India engaged in an intense and tight match in the last round, but Peru managed to secure a 3-3 tie, leaving India out of the competition.
