The FIFAe World Cup 2025™ featuring Rocket League to be held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia in December
16 nations to participate in the FIFAe World Cup 2025™ featuring Rocket League
To qualify, nations will compete in regional online qualifiers across the globe
After an unforgettable showdown at the inaugural FIFAe World Cup 2024™ featuring Rocket League, the global Rocket League scene is once again gearing up for a spectacular return. Last year, Saudi Arabia etched their name into history by claiming the title on home soil, represented by Rw9, trk511 and Kiileerrz, delivering passion, precision, and dominance that inspired fans across the world.
This competition will be one of three pinnacle events of the FIFAe Finals 2025. With national pride, raw talent, and high-stake matchups on the line, 16 nations will battle for global supremacy in one of the most prestigious international events of the Rocket League season. Returning in the same format as the FIFAe World Cup 2024™ featuring Rocket League, only one nation will claim the ultimate title.
The road to the FIFAe World Cup 2025™ featuring Rocket League begins with nations identifying their representatives through a range of selection methods. Member Associations may nominate players based on performance, community recognition, or other criteria relevant to their national ecosystem. The nominated players will represent the nation and advance to the Regional Online Qualifiers, where they will compete for a chance to represent their nation on the global stage at the FIFAe World Cup 2025™ featuring Rocket League.
To select their representatives, nations can choose from any one of the following pathways – or a suitable combination of them:
Bootcamps: An intensive training environment with a handpicked pool of players, evaluated by coaching staff and officials.
Domestic Trials: National trials open to all with an optional invitation to well-established players in the National community
Direct Nominations: Nations may choose to directly nominate their national representatives, bypassing domestic trials or bootcamps entirely.
A minimum of three(3) and a maximum of six(6) players can be nominated for the MA’s Extended National Squad.
MAs may consider a range of factors beyond in-game performance when finalizing their national team nominations. These can include how individuals represent their country under pressure, their communication skills, conduct in interviews, and overall professionalism – much like the expectations placed on athletes in traditional football.
The complete list of participating nations will be revealed in August.
After all nations have nominated their National Squad, participating nations will compete in Regional Online Qualifiers in late October to secure a spot at the FIFAe World Cup 2025™ featuring Rocket League. The qualifiers will be divided by region, with nations facing off against other from their respective parts of the world. Ahead of each matchup, each nation must nominate three players from their Extended National Squad to compete in a 3v3 format.
The regional split as well as the exact dates and the qualification spots for the FIFAe World Cup 2025™ featuring Rocket League for all respective regions will be announced at a later date.
Lastly, the pinnacle event: the FIFAe World Cup 2025™ featuring Rocket League held during the FIFAe Finals 2025™ in December will feature the following structure: a group stage and a knockout stage, with a total of 16 national teams:
15 teams qualified through Regional Online Qualifiers
Saudi Arabia as the host nation, automatically seeded into the pinnacle event
Each MA must nominate their final three (3) players with a dedicated coach that will represent their nation at the FIFAe World Cup 2025™ featuring Rocket League.
The 16 national teams are split in two groups of eight. Within each group, every team plays against all the other teams twice, in a Double Round Robin, resulting in a total of 14 matchups per national team. Each matchup is played as a Best-of-2 (Bo2), with points awarded based on the result, following the points system commonly used in traditional football.
Win = three (3) points
Draw = one (1) point
Loss = no (0) points
From this stage, the top four teams from each group advance to the knockout stage.
The top four teams from each group will compete in the knockout stage, where they will face each other in a single elimination format. Each matchup will be played in a Best-of-7 (Bo7). At this point, one mistake can cost it all — the winning teams will advance to the next round, while the losing teams will need to bid farewell to the competition.
