During 2024, over 200 players and 450 profiles were protected against harmful online interactions
The FIFA Social Media Protection Service has been part of the Good Game Promise since 2023, which supports accessibility, health, mental wellness and sustainability
The Good Game Promise continues to develop strategies to promote its key pillars: healthy players, healthy communities and a healthy planet
As part of the FIFAe Good Game Promise, FIFAe is committed to fostering a safe and inclusive digital and physical space where players, fans, and stakeholders can engage without fear of harassment, exclusion, or being unable to participate due to barriers in accessibility or representation. Promoting a positive and inclusive environment is at the heart of FIFAe, and ensuring a safe online space has been a key priority during FIFAe events. Protecting players, fans, and stakeholders from harmful interactions is essential to maintaining the integrity of the community.
The FIFA Social Media Protection Service (FIFA SMPS) has been instrumental in this effort, proactively monitoring online interactions and enforcing community safety since 2023 (for FAMEHERGAME Bootcamp and FIFAe Finals 2023). In 2024, the FIFA SMPS has been active both before and after live events, ensuring continuous protection. The tool was deployed during the following periods:
Active coverage for the FIFAe Next Gen event from 27 August until 2September 2024.
Active coverage for the FIFAe Finals from 4 to 13 December 2024.
Recent monitoring during the FIFAe competitions in 2024 highlights its effectiveness through the following achievements:
130,000 posts were analyzed during the FIFAe events
Protected over 200 players and over 450 profiles across different platforms from harmful interactions, ensuring a respectful competitive environment.
Flagged 1,000 posts for human cross-checking, with dedicated moderator review in each case to protect players from unfair treatment online.
Reported offending users on social media platforms, promoting accountability and responsible behavior.
In 2024, FIFAe expanded its commitment to inclusivity and accessibility in esports through several key initiatives under the Good Game Promise. Collaborations with organizations like TheRockinR and EveryoneCan were established to support football gaming adaptative solutions, ensuring that everyone, regardless of physical abilities, can enjoy and participate in gaming and esports.
Furthermore, as part of the Healthy Planet pillar of the Good Game Promise, FIFAe has committed to measure, offset and reduce the events carbon footprint.
These initiatives, along with the implementation of the FIFA Social Media Protection Service, aim to create a safer, more inclusive, and more respectful environment for all participants in the esports community.
