The FIFAe World Cup 2023™, presented by Gamers8, the pinnacle event for individual players, concluded on 19 July with thrilling matches in the semi finals and finals, which all ended in lengthy penalty shootouts, showcasing the high level of competition on the virtual pitch. The semi finalists - Obrun2002, PHzin, Mark11, and ManuBachoore - had previous experience in late knockout stages through their participation in other tournaments with their clubs and national teams.

Interestingly, the FIFAe World Champion, ManuBachoore, secured his FIFAe World Champion title via penalties, similar to former FIFAe World Champion and current FIFAe Club World Champion Umut's victory in the finals against nicolas99fc last season.

If you missed the action, here is an overview of the finals matches.

Semi finals

Obrun2002 and ManuBachoore engaged in an incredibly tight two-legged match, showcasing their matched skills. Obrun2002 won the first leg 2-1, but the second leg and consecutive extra time saw both competitors matching each other, leading to a penalty shootout. In the sudden death penalty stage, ManuBachoore emerged victorious, scoring more goals than Obrun2002.

In the match between PHzin and Mark11, Mark11 took the lead with a goal in the first leg, but PHzin managed to equalize in the second leg. Despite an intense display of defense and offense from both sides, the match ended in a draw, leading to a penalty shootout in which Mark11 emerged as the winner, and ultimately the runer-up, as PHzin missed out on a few opportunities during gameplay.

Finals

The Finals followed immediately after the semi finals, with Mark11 initially dominating the match with a two-goal advantage against ManuBachoore. However, ManuBachore fought back, equalizing before the first leg ended and eventually securing the advantage goal, resulting in a dramatic 3-3 draw after extra time. The thrilling penalty shootout ensued, with ManuBachoore ultimately emerging victorious with the sudden death goal in his favor.
