As the FIFAe World Cup 2024™ featuring Rocket League reached decisive stages, it was only natural to expect an extraordinary level of skill, chemistry among players and overall exceptional performances. Not only were the players’ performances at their peak moments, but the audience kept electrifying the arena the whole time, which was visible (and audible) in the interaction of the hosts and the fans. After an intense 3 days of competition, Belgium, Spain, Chile and Netherlands bid farewell to the competition, while Saudi Arabia, Brazil, France and Moroccoget their well-deserved spots at the Semi Finals.
- Saudi Arabia started strong against Chile. Although the Chilean roster showed impressive strength early on, the Saudi Arabian team ultimately achieved four consecutive victories. As a result, Groval, Reysbull, pan and Davitrox return home with a quarterfinalist’s prize pool and the satisfaction of having fought with all their efforts throughout the entire competition, in addition with leaving an excellent impression of good sportsmanship and kindness towards their opponents. Meanwhile, trk511, Kiileerrz, Rw9 and d7oom-24 continue in their fight for keeping the trophy home.
- Brazil tight battle against Belgium. Belgium started their quarterfinal matchup strongly. In Game 1, AtowRikow! scored the first two goals and Compact added a third, securing Belgium’s first win against the FURIA-based Brazilian team. Brazil bounced back in Game 2, with yANXNZ and Lostt each scoring to even the series.
Game 3 saw Brazil take the lead in the best-of-seven format: yANXNZ netted the first goal and Lostt followed up with another, giving Brazil their second victory. In Game 4, Belgium’s Compact opened the scoring, while Game 5 began with two quick goals from Brazil.
Finally, in the last game, yANXNZ and Drufinho scored the decisive goals for Brazil, ensuring their advancement to the Semi Finals. AtowRikow!, Compact, AztraL07 and LDC go back home with pride, since they had a great performance throughout.
- France shows their dominance once again and Spain exits with high spirits. Despite strong support for Spain in the crowd, France won the first four games, demonstrating the dominance they had maintained throughout the group stage. The chemistry among M0nkey M00n, Vatira, zen, and Ferra—years in the making—was clearly on display. Although crr, stizzy, AtomiK, and Braan fought hard in the final two matches, creating remarkable saves and opportunities, and admirable teamwork, it only left us eager to see what they bring next time.
- Netherlands incredibly tight match against Morocco. Netherlands and Morocco skills were so matched, the first game ended in overtime with a single goal of Oaly. However, from the second game onward, it all went rapidly downhill for the Netherlands, when Drali and Itachi turned it up with five goals in less than 2 minutes into the second game. The third, fourth and fifth games also ended up with multiple Moroccan goals, with the Netherlands falling short of scoring.
Ultimately Oaly, Joreuz, Mikeboy and Oscillon ended up leaving the competition after an impressive and unexpected performance throughout the group stage. Drali, Itachi, Nass and Audrax remain one more day and face a powerful France in the next stage.
The qualified nations make their way to the Semi Finals, where only one of them will triumph and take the Champion of FIFAe World Cup featuring Rocket League title. Saudi Arabia faces Brazil, while France faces Moroccoin a familiar best-of-seven (Bo7) format.
