The FIFAe Universe in December

  • End of the calendar year brings the start of the main FIFAe narratives

  • FIFA launches new commercial partnership structure including dedicated program for esports

  • FIFAe Nations Online Qualifers 2022™ Play-Ins underway in regions across the world

The FIFAe season is really starting to get rolling over this busy period, but first, we look back at the most important events over the last few weeks of December:

FIFA launches new commercial structure for esports

FIFAe now has its own dedicated partnership vertical after FIFA released a range of packages across Men’s Football, Women’s Football and Esports/Gaming earlier this month.

For the first time since 2013, FIFA is introducing a new commercial partnership structure that will provide companies around the world with more tailored opportunities to partner with the sport of football, leverage the FIFA brand and support its competitions.

Read more information about the new commercial structure in an update earlier this month, found here.

FIFAe Nations Online Qualifiers 2022™ Play-Ins underway!

National pride is on the line as the Play-Ins have commenced this month on the Road to the FIFAe Nations Cup™and will last until April 2022. Over a period of four competition weeks, the nations will compete in a 2v2 online format to be top of their region’s divisions.

All Participating Member Associations from the 2021 season are invited to take part in the Play-Ins, with the top teams qualifying directly to the FIFAe Nations Playoffs, skipping the FIFAe Nations Online Qualifiers Main stage.

The first competition week has taken place and has thrown up some great match-ups, which are able to be followed live on FIFA.GG.

No one has managed to maintain a perfect record at the end of week one, however the Netherlands duo of Nick ‘FCGNICK’ den Hamer and Dani ‘LePecheurr’ Visser are sat in pole position. In the other European conference, the Swedish duo of Ollelito and Oliboli have impressed, as they sit top above Germany and Portugal. Early favourites England have disappointed so far, with the representation of Tom Leese and Tekkz sitting second bottom in Conference One.

Brazil and Argentina have been tightly contesting the South American conference, but it is the Brazilian duo of Crepaldi and ViniLeiva who manage to top their rivals, as two wins over Argentina on the last matchday saw them solidify that top spot, and claim the title of the best best worldwide win percentage of the first round - at 83% - but Singapore in Division 2 of the Asia & Oceania region also boast that statistic, albeit with less games played.

Elsewhere, Mexico & Saudi Arabia are both top on goal difference in the North & Central America and Middle East & Africa conferences. India currently lead after the conclusion of week one in the Asia & Oceania conference.

All zones and conferences for the pre-qualification stage of the FIFAe Club Series came to an end in early December, with the winners of these brackets moving on to a place in the Online Qualification stage, which commences in February 2022.

They will compete over a four-week-long online competition for a spot in the FIFAe Club Playoffs in June 2022, where the 22 clubs competing to be the very best at the FIFAe Club World Cup (FeCWC) will be found. The final two spots for the FeCWC will be found at the FGS 22 Team of the Season Cup, hosted by EA SPORTS in April 2022.
